Set up your Trezor in four simple stages
This landing page provides clear, practical steps to get your Trezor wallet online while preserving the highest security standards. Follow the official workflow: download software from the official site, verify firmware authenticity, create and protect your recovery phrase, and always confirm transactions on-device.
1 — Official download
Visit trezor.io/start. Download the right Trezor Suite version for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Never use links from unsolicited emails or social posts.
2 — Connect & update
Connect your device with the supplied cable. Trezor Suite will guide you to install verified firmware; check the fingerprint shown on-device before approving.
3 — Generate recovery phrase
Create a 12 or 24 word recovery phrase as prompted. Write it down exactly—do not store it electronically. This phrase is your only backup to restore funds.
4 — Lock with PIN & passphrase
Set a PIN to prevent unauthorized use. Optionally enable a passphrase to create hidden wallets for advanced protection.
Hardware-based security
Private keys are generated and stored on the Trezor device and never leave it—signing happens on-device to defend against computer-based attacks.
Comprehensive coin support
Manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, Solana and thousands of tokens using one secure device and the Trezor Suite interface.
Privacy & control
Optional Tor routing, custom backend support and discreet mode let you limit data leakage and operate with greater privacy.
Recommended security checklist
- Never take photos of your recovery phrase or save it on a computer or phone.
- Verify every receiving address on the Trezor device itself before accepting payments.
- Choose a strong PIN and consider a passphrase for additional protection.
- Keep firmware and Trezor Suite up to date to benefit from security improvements.
- Consider ordering a metal backup plate for long-term seed preservation.
If you ever need help, consult official documentation at trezor.io/start or contact Trezor support through the official channels. Support will never ask for your recovery phrase.
